Smarter Golf Lessons with Sean Ogle and Me And My Golf

You might have seen Sean Ogle from his YouTube channel, reviewing the latest golf products to help improve your game or maybe read his blog, Breaking Eighty, but Sean Ogle isn’t just a golf gear enthusiast; he’s also a dedicated Arccos member. Over the years, Sean has used Arccos to track his performance, analyze his rounds, and refine his strategy. With over 300 rounds logged in the app, he’s built an impressive library of personal game tracking data.

Sean’s journey with Arccos to “Breaking 80” has already shaved a number strokes off his score, but there was one frontier he hadn’t explored—taking a formal golf lesson.

Admittedly, the thought of seeing your swing on video or enduring a drawn-out process of incremental improvement can be intimidating. For Sean, though, the time had come to push past those hesitations. Determined to take his game to the next level, we helped him team up with our friends Piers Ward and Andy Proudman from Me And My Golf, bringing his Arccos data along with him for the journey.

Anyone who’s taken a lesson knows how it usually starts: hit 10 balls with every club to get an idea of their game, or answer the vague question, “What do you think you need to work on?” Most of us respond with an equally vague, “Uh, my short game... maybe my driver... probably my irons too?”

With a different approach, consisting of hundreds of rounds tracked in Arccos, he didn’t need to guess where he was losing shots. His data pinpointed the weak spots in his game, providing Piers and Andy with actionable insights from the start. Instead of a lengthy discovery process, they dove straight into addressing the areas where Sean could gain the most strokes.

Of course, no swing change comes easily. Sean knew that improvement often means getting worse before you get better—a reality he faced head-on. As he put it:

“It’s going to get ugly before it gets good.”

But hopefully it gets better faster, paring his lesson with his Arccos Data.
